Pietra Serena is a sandstone and it was the most frequently used material in the Florentine Renaissance architecture. It is an iconic symbol of the Tuscan region and from an ancient culture. The quarries are located about 900m altitude, where winter is extremely severe and during the most difficult winters it is not possible to work. This sandstone is deposited in 34 layers, classified by color and technical characteristics. Some are used only for local market and others for export, depending on the type of product and market.
These stones have very interesting technical characteristics and their stability and consistency are unmatched with others of the same family.
