The ventilated facade concept was developed a few decades ago. It consists in having the curtain wall away from the support wall to allow natural ventilation through an air box.
Air circulation is very important for natural rocks to be able to release moisture faster while maintaining their original shade for a long time. In this way salts and minerals from the supporting walls do not migrate to rocks, keeping them clean and free of stains.
Allows to keep the temperature controlled by lowering the thermal expansion values of the rocks.
Mechanical systems must be studied and adapted to the different types of rocks. These allow the installation of thinner thicknesses and larger panels.
The advantages of this system are numerous: energy efficiency, low maintenance costs, increased building longevity and coating durability.
