Limestone is a sedimentary rock commonly called "dolomitic limestone". These rocks form at the bottom of the sea or coastal lagoons and are composed by organisms present in this environment. Coral and fossilized seaweed, crustaceans and many other beings who lived in these waters.
The precipitation of calcium carbonate in the form of bicarbonate originated by erosion of ígneous rocks (granite, basalt) deposits slowly in layers that cover the bottom of the sea. Later these layers are pushed out of the water through the movement of the tectonic plates, forming the hills and mountains that we know today. These deposits are the origin of the limestone rocks extractive zones used, among others, for ornamental purposes.
We can say that every cm of limestone rock is like a time capsule, because it keeps in it each moment of the formation of the earth and our oceans. We can find fossils with 220 million years old. It´s incomparable with any man-made product. Its intrinsic value is so rich that it is our duty to value a resource created by nature of such beauty.
